MYSA Coaches Code of Conduct

MYSA Coaches Code of Conduct

MYSA coaches will adhere to the guidelines provided by the Wisconsin Youth Soccer  Associations as follows:

Coaches Responsibilities and Behavior Guidelines

Coaching is a privilege granted by clubs and parents and with this privilege comes  responsibilities. Coaches should keep in mind their position as role models for their players.  The coaches set the tone in sportsmanship for the players and spectators. Coaches should  remember that soccer is more than winning at all cost. Don’t forget the game is for the kids.  The objective of sports for youth should be:

  1. Enjoyment
  2. Skill development
  3. Participation in a team sport
  4. The development of good sportsmanship.

The coach, the primary influence on the players, determines if the objectives of the State  Association for youth soccer players are met. The State Association expects the coaches to  abide by the following guidelines:

  1. Coaches should participate in the post-game handshake with opponents and referees (good  example for players). Coaches who fail to shake hands and exhibit good sportsmanship in  defeat as well as victory should be reported.
  2. It is beneficial for coaches to attend referee clinics and to referee at some time for the  experience.
  3. Coaches shall refrain from negative coaching on the sidelines and refrain from yelling at  players, opponents and game officials from the sidelines.
  4. Coaches are required to have in their possession a state issued coach pass card. To obtain  a state issued coach pass card, a coach must complete the Kid-Safe Coach Registration  Process. This element is part of the State Association’s RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAM and  is a requirement of membership within US Youth Soccer and US Soccer. 5. Coaches shall be appropriately licensed or certified subject to the age group being coached.

Additionally, MYSA coaches will be expected to:

  1. Inspect equipment and fields on a regular basis to ensure the safety of the players.
  2. Maintain open line of communication with players and parents. Team goals and objectives  will be explained.
  3. Adhere to MYSA playing time guidelines.
  4. Respect the referees and game officials and their authority during every game. e) Learn and know the rules of the game and uphold these.
  5. Have a positive attitude and praise players for trying hard, playing fair and doing their best,  regardless of the outcome of the game. Never criticize or yell at any player for making a  mistake. Coaches will have zero tolerance of any physical or verbal abuse in youth sports. No  swearing or profanity should be used at any time.
  6. Demand a sports environment that is free from drugs, alcohol and tobacco

Game Feedback Report

Game Feedback Report

Provide feedback regarding a game here.

The purpose of this form is to give feedback on any game.  You can also utilize this when a referee is doing a great job and putting an explanation on what they are specifically doing a good job on.  The other purpose is to utilize this form for when you as a coach feels the referee could use mentoring or you see some specifics where there is an issue.  We are asking for this form to be utilized on  all games that are played in the CWSL District whether Competitive or State League.  The intent on this is for me to share and work with our Referee Assignors on how we can mentor and also encourage our referees.  Coaches should not question the referee during games as we now have an outlet.

Rescheduling Games

Rescheduling Games

It is highly encouraged to play games as scheduled. The field scheduler or referee makes the final call to call off the game if bad weather. If you do not have enough players, do your best to pull someone from an equal level or younger to substitute. Girls can substitute for boy teams, but not boys for girl teams. (Note: player cards are needed for guest players).

If a game has to be rescheduled because of not having enough players to field a team or an actual storm please remember to contact the following:

  1. Contact the opposing coach to get a tentative date & time ASAP (See CWSL website)
  2. Contact Field scheduler for availability (email Amanda Bruce, Parks and Rec dept, Amanda.bruce@ci.marshfield.Wi.us)
  3. Contact Referee assignor to assign refs (email or call (715-676-3278) Nate Barth, natebarth0000@gmail.com)
  4. Complete form and email (Complete form and email Karen Stashek, Chris Yustus & Josh Dick). staf@wctc.net;yustus@charter.net;joshdick75@gmail.com
